Best Buddies Egypt says NO to the R-word

On Wednesday, March 6, people around the world will unite their communities for ‘Spread the Word to End the Word’ Day. Now in its 5th year, this annual day of awareness aims to end the hurtful use of the R-word (“retard(ed)”) negatively impacting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Throughout the course of the 2013 campaign, we have seen an incredible amount of support from Best Buddies chapters around the world. This latest highlight comes from Egypt via Ziad Hozayen, a Best Buddies Ambassador from the city of Giza. Check out his video, and join Ziad by taking a stand and taking the pledge to use respectful people-first language at

Ziad first showed us his leadership skills at last year’s Leadership Conference, delivering a powerful speech in front of over 1,400 supporters. He continues advocate for inclusion through our program in Best Buddies program in Egypt.
