Best Buddies + Verizon Center

A huge THANK YOU to our longtime friend and supporter Ted Leonsis, for sharing our mission of inclusion with the world at the Verizon Center, home to the Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Mystics (WNBA) and Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball team (NCAA).

This year we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary, and all the accomplishments and successes we’ve enjoyed since 1989. We’re proud to share this milestone, and our mission, with the people of Washington, D.C.!

In the year 1999, Ted Leonsis helped launch our e-Buddies program, becoming the first ever e-Buddies match with his buddy “Big Ken” Holden. Their friendship remains strong until this day!

Ken and I had never met before I sent that first email. Now I can honestly say, Ken is one of my best friends. There is not a single day that has gone by in a dozen years where we haven’t had some kind of connection.

Our hope is that campaigns such as the one featured at the Verizon Center continue to inspire individuals to get involved with Best Buddies and create lifelong friendships like Ken and Ted’s.  We invite you to learn more about our mission and volunteer at www.bestbuddies.org.

If you happen to be at the Verizon Center, send us a selfie of you and your buddy with #BestBuddies25 to @BestBuddies on Instagram or Twitter!
