Audi: Best Buddies Celebrity Bowling Event in Downtown Los Angeles a Striking Success!

Los Angeles, April 27, 2014 – Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars were in attendance at the Audi: Best Buddies Bowling for Buddies event at LuckyStrike Lanes at L.A. Live on April 27, which was presented by Audi.

This charity event, designed to raise awareness about Best Buddies International, a nonprofit that provides opportunities for friendship, employment and leadership development skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), brought out a bevy of the organization’s notable supporters and participants, many of whom brought along their families.

Bowling for Buddies Committee Members Maureen McCormick, Nancy O’Dell and Lauren Potter joined Jamie Brewer, Adam Gaynor from Matchbox 20, Cheryl Hines, Nick and Joe Jonas, Holly Robinson Peete, Maria Shriver, Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo and Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, as well as their families, for an afternoon of bowling and bonding with Best Buddies participants from the Los Angeles area and their loved ones. WASHINGTON, Oct. 20, 2013 – Close to 1,500 people took part in the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Washington, D.C. – a charity walk, run and ride chaired by Scott Keogh, President of Audi of America, on Saturday, October 19. The Challenge raised $2.5 million in total donations for Best Buddies International, a nonprofit dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Carmel, CA, September 8 Fifteen hundred people took part in the10th Anniversary Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle, a 100-mile cycling fundraiser from Carmel to San Simeon, on Saturday, September 7. The Challenge raised $4.5 million in total donations for Best Buddies International, a nonprofit dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Author, journalist and activist Maria Shriver and California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom served as Honorary Co-Chairs of the Challenge. Both shared of their time and talent over the course of the weekend, with Shriver delivering powerful speeches and participating in the 15-mile ride, and Newsom riding the 30-mile route. Shriver’s Team Maria was the top fundraising “non-corporate” team, raising more than $450,000 and Team SVB was the top fundraising “corporate” team, raising more than $630,000. Read More…
